students will be able to identify and write multidigit numbers in their various forms (word, expanded, and standard form) as well as explain the relationship between the forms.
Multidigit numbers can be written in different ways. The three most common representations are word form, expanded form, and standard form. Word form is when the number is written using letters as words. Expanded form is when the number is broken into its different digit values separated using addition symbols. Standard form is the traditional numeral representation of the number.
Example: Word Form: threehundred fortyfive thousand, eighthundred seventytwo Expanded Form: 300,000+40,000+5,000+800+70+2 Standard Form: 345,872
